Some of our Instrumentation and Facilities
FTIR spectroscopy
Bruker Vertex 70-v. Capabilities include flow-through cells for in situ gas-phase reaction of solid phases (mostly minerals here) from cryogenic conditions (-110 °C) to 900 °C and from UHV to 240 bars. Our high T,P cell is connected to an quadrupole mass spectrometry for direct determination of gaseous products during Temperature Programmed Desorption.

Cryogenic X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy
Our Kratos Axis Ultra XPS instrument is now over 20 years old, and soon to be joined by a new XPS instrument by the end of 2021! We have unique capabilities for cryogenic XPS measurements (-155 °C) for fast-frozen wet samples (e.g. mineral pastes, microorganisms). Our laboratory is an instrument platform of the Chemical and Biological Center
Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy
Our Biologic AC-SECM instrument enables electrochemical mapping of reactive electrode surfaces at the micron scale. This is achieved using Pt microelectrodes. Here we measured ion transport at the skin of gas bubbles using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy.
